The VEGAPULS 62 is a non-contact radar level sensor that works by transmitting short microwave pulses from its antenna to the product's surface, which then reflects the signal back to the sensor. The sensor measures the time taken for the signal to travel to the product and back, a duration directly proportional to the level of the liquid. This time-of-flight measurement, also known as Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) in radar technology, allows for continuous and accurate level detection in a variety of vessels, even under difficult conditions like high pressure, temperature, or vacuum.
How it works:
- Microwave Transmission: The VEGAPULS 62's antenna sends very short, low-power microwave pulses into the tank or vessel.
- Reflection: When these pulses hit the surface of the liquid or solid material, they are reflected back towards the sensor.
- Time Measurement: The sensor precisely records the time it takes for the microwave pulse to travel from the antenna to the product surface and return.
- Level Calculation: The measured time is then converted into a distance or level reading by the sensor's internal electronics.
