VEGAPULS63 - Radar sensor for continuous level measurement of liquids -

PS63.DXNFDHDMAX

(For aggressive liquids or under hygienic requirements)

2AAA

The VEGAPULS 63 uses a non-contact radar (TDR - Time Domain Reflectometry) principle to measure the level of aggressive liquids or in hygienic applications. The sensor emits microwave pulses, which are reflected by the liquid's surface, and the time it takes for these pulses to be received back by the antenna system is used to calculate the distance to the surface, and therefore the liquid level. This method is unaffected by process conditions like pressure, temperature, or product properties.

How it Works

  1. Microwave Emission: The sensor's antenna system sends extremely short microwave pulses in the direction of the product surface.
  2. Reflection: The surface of the measured product reflects these pulses back towards the sensor.
  3. Signal Reception: The antenna system receives the reflected signals.
  4. Time Measurement: A special time-stretching procedure allows for precise measurement of the very short time taken for the signal to travel from the sensor to the product surface and back.
  5.  Level Calculation: The sensor uses the time-of-flight to determine the distance to the product surface and then calculates the actual level in the vessel.

Key Characteristics

  • Application: Ideal for measuring aggressive liquids or in applications with high hygienic demands, such as storage tanks, process vessels, and reactors.
  • Encapsulated Antenna: The antenna system is sealed and protected from contamination, ensuring maintenance-free and long-term operation.
  • Front-Flush Mounting: The sensor's front-flush mounting allows for optimal cleanability, which is important in hygienic applications.
  • Non-Contact Measurement: The process is entirely non-contact, meaning the readings are not influenced by factors like product properties, pressure, or temperature.

Application area

The front-flush mounting of the encapsulated antenna system ensures optimum cleaning even with strict hygienic requirements.
The VEGAPULS 63 is a radar sensor for continuous level measurement of aggressive liquids or with hygienic requirements. It is suitable for applications in storage tanks, process vessels, dosing vessels and reactors. The encapsulated antenna system of VEGAPULS 63 protects the VEGAPULS 63 against pollution and ensures a maintenance-free permanent operation. The front-flush mounting ensures an optimum cleanability even with high hygienic requirements.
