The Magnetrol Pulsar R82 works on a pulse burst radar principle to measure liquid level by emitting short bursts of 26 GHz microwave energy and measuring the time it takes for the signal to reflect off the liquid's surface. The device uses ultra-high-speed timing circuitry and sophisticated signal processing to filter out false reflections and background noise. It then calculates the distance to the liquid surface and, using the tank height and sensor offset, determines the exact level. The R82's energy efficiency allows for tracking high rates of level change, making it suitable for various applications, including those with varying dielectrics, high fill/empty rates, turbulence, and low to moderate foam.

How it Works

1. Emission: The R82 emits short bursts of 26 GHz microwave energy towards the liquid surface in the tank.
2. Reflection: This microwave energy reflects off the liquid's surface and travels back to the sensor.
3. Time Measurement: An ultra-high-speed timing circuit measures the round-trip time of the microwave signal.
4. Signal Processing: Advanced signal processing filters out false reflections from tank walls or other obstacles, ensuring the accurate selection of the true liquid surface echo.  
5. Calculation: Using the formula D = Transit time/2 (where D is distance), the R82 calculates the distance to the liquid surface.  
6. Level Determination: By factoring in the user-defined tank height and sensor offset information, the transmitter determines the exact liquid level
