The Magnetrol Pulsar R86 works on the principle of pulse burst radar technology, emitting short bursts of 26 GHz microwave energy that reflect off the liquid surface. By measuring the transit time for the signal to travel to the surface and back, it calculates the distance to the liquid level. This distance is then used with tank configuration data to determine the liquid level.

Here's a breakdown of the working principle:

1. Transmission: The Pulsar R86 transmits short, repeated bursts of 26 GHz microwave energy downwards into the vessel.
2. Reflection: These microwave bursts hit the surface of the liquid and are reflected back towards the transmitter.
3. Transit Time Measurement: The device precisely measures the time it takes for the signal to complete the round trip from the transmitter to the liquid surface and back.
4. Distance Calculation: Using the known speed of light, the distance to the liquid level is calculated using the formula: Distance = (Speed of Light × Transit Time) / 2.  
5. Level Determination: The calculated distance is then combined with tank height and other configuration parameters to determine the actual liquid level within the vessel.  
6. Signal Processing: Sophisticated signal processing extracts the true liquid level measurement by ignoring reflections from tank walls or other background noise.
