The KROHNE OPTIWAVE 7300 C measures liquid levels using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar, which sends a high-frequency signal from its antenna, reflects it off the product surface, and measures the time-of-flight of the reflected signal to calculate the distance to the liquid. This non-contact, continuous measurement works reliably even in tanks with agitated surfaces, foam, or internal objects, and the design minimizes build-up on the antenna

How it Works

1. Signal Transmission: The device emits a radar signal from its antenna towards the surface of the liquid in a tank.
2. Reflection: The signal reflects off the surface of the liquid.
3. Signal Reception: The antenna receives the reflected signal.
4. Distance Calculation: By precisely measuring the time it takes for the signal to travel to the surface and back (time-of-flight), the device calculates the distance to the liquid.
5. Level and Volume Determination: This distance, along with tank dimensions, is used to determine the liquid's level and, consequently, the volume.
