VF2541A522100 - (Continuous level measurement of liquids and solids)
The OPTIFLEX 1100 uses Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technology to measure liquid and solid levels by transmitting low-intensity electromagnetic pulses along a guided probe. The pulse reflects off the product's surface, and the device measures the time it takes for the reflected signal to return. This time is converted into a continuous 4-20 mA output, with no effect from dust, foam, vapor, or changes in product properties like dielectric constant, density, or conductivity.

How the OPTIFLEX 1100 Works
- Pulse Transmission: The OPTIFLEX 1100 emits short, low-intensity electromagnetic pulses at the speed of light along its rigid or flexible probe.
- Reflection: When the pulse reaches the surface of the liquid or solid, it reflects back with an intensity dependent on the product's dielectric constant.
- Time Measurement: The device measures the time elapsed between transmitting the pulse and receiving the reflected signal.
- Distance Calculation: Half of this measured time directly corresponds to the distance from the device's reference point to the product's surface.
- Signal Output: This distance is then converted into a 4-20 mA current output and/or a digital signal.
