Krohne Radar level transmitters / OPTIFLEX 1300 C
VF714004200C001210000000 - (Level Transmitter for heavy-duty and interface applications)
The OPTIFLEX 1300 works on the Guided Radar (TDR - Time Domain Reflectometry) principle, transmitting electromagnetic pulses along a probe to measure the time it takes for the pulse to reflect off the product's surface, converting this time into a level, distance, volume, or interface measurement. This technology is effective for liquids, solids, and pastes, even in challenging conditions like agitated surfaces, foam, or variations in pressure, temperature, and density.

How the TDR Principle Works
- Pulse Transmission: The device sends a low-intensity electromagnetic pulse down its probe.
- Pulse Propagation: The pulse travels at the speed of light through the medium.
- Reflection: When the pulse encounters the product surface, a portion of it is reflected back.
- Time Measurement: The device measures the time it takes from the transmission of the pulse to its reception.
- Distance Calculation: Half of this time value is equivalent to the distance from the probe's reference point (the flange) to the product's surface.
- Output: This time value is then converted into a corresponding output signal (e.g., 4-20 mA) and can also be a digital signal, indicating the level of the product.
Key Features and Capabilities
- Multi-Purpose Measurement: It can measure level, distance, volume, mass, and liquid-liquid interface.
- Media Versatility: The OPTIFLEX 1300 is suitable for measuring liquids, liquefied gases, pastes, and solids, including powders and granulates.
- Resilience to Process Conditions: The technology is designed to be unaffected by foam, dust, vapor, agitated surfaces, and variations in pressure, temperature, and density.
- Flexible Probes: It can be equipped with cable probes of varying lengths (e.g., 8 mm for heavier materials, 4 mm for smaller silos).
- Internal Self-Tests: The device performs self-tests to ensure the accuracy of the installation and electrical connections.
