Krohne Radar level transmitters / OPTIFLEX 8200 C/F
VFAC401110211610K10H1A006 - (level transmitter for liquids at high temperature and pressure)
The OPTIFLEX 8200 works by using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) to emit low-intensity electromagnetic pulses along a probe, which are reflected by the product surface. By measuring the transit time of the pulses and using an algorithm called Dynamic Gas-phase Compensation (GDC), the device determines the liquid level or interface with high accuracy, even under extreme conditions like high pressure, temperature, and changing gas compositions.

How it Works
- Pulse Emission: A low-intensity electromagnetic (EM) pulse is transmitted by the device's converter.
- Pulse Propagation: The pulse travels along a rigid or flexible probe (single rod or cable) at the speed of light.
- Reflection: When the pulse hits the material's surface, it is reflected back to the transmitter.
- Time Measurement: The device measures the time interval from when the pulse is transmitted to when it is received.
- Distance Calculation: Half of this elapsed time is converted into the distance from the device's reference point to the material's surface.
- Signal Output: This distance value is then converted into a standard output signal, such as a 4...20 mA current or a digital signal.
Key Features & Benefits
- TDR Technology: This guided radar technology is reliable and accurate for level measurement.
- Robust Probes: The single rod or cable probes are strong and can withstand high traction loads, making them ideal for solids in silos.
- Versatile Applications: The OPTIFLEX 6200 is suitable for various materials, including powders like cement and starch, as well as solids like plastic granulates, tobacco, and coffee powder.
- Insensitive to Environmental Factors: Its performance is not affected by dust, foam, vapor, agitation, or changes in pressure, temperature, or density.
