Pmax and FF

 Pmax

The Maximum Power in a photovoltaic system is given by:

Pmax=Imp x Vmp ( Wp)

Where: Imp = Current resulting at maximum power; Vmp = the Voltage converted into Maximum Power.

FF (Fill factor)

The Fill Factor (FF = Fill Factor) is the ratio between the maximum output power (Imp * Vmp) and the ideal output power    (Isc * Voc). It represents the ratio between the theoretical power and the maximum rated power

The Fill Factor indicates the electrical quality of the module. The higher the FF, the better the cell.

FF= Pmax / Pt = Imp x Vmp/ Isc x Voc

  • Pmax = maximum power expressed in Wp
  • Imp = current at maximum power
  • Vmp = voltage at maximum power
  • Voc = no-load voltage (open circuit)
  • Isc = short circuit current
