Control and Treatment Center

All the operations between the extraction and the shipment for sale of the oil take place in the collection and treatment centre (Oil Centre). We can say that the fluid generally undergoes four successive stages of processing:

• Transport:  from the wellhead to the treatment centre through the wellhead manifold, the flow lines, and from the well arrival manifold.

• Separation:  separation of crude oil from non-emulsified layer water (free water) and more volatile products

• Specific Treatments:  elimination of emulsified water, volatile products and any sulphur.

• Storage and shipping:  from the Oil Field the production is ready to send to the refinery (subject to measurement and sampling by pipeline or tanker truck).

All necessary facilities (processes) are located in the oil centre area. The Oil Center is normally divided into areas:

• Office area:  where are located offices and the control room which control the process and auxiliary activities.

• Steam production area:  where the boilers and storage of chemical products which the system needs for process activities.

• Plant area:  where the oil treatment line and any gas treatment plants are located.

• Warehouse area:  where the spare parts of the machines are stored (pumps, compressors, etc.) as well as various pipes and fittings.

• Fire-fighting pump area:  This includes the tank for the fire-fighting water reserve and the pumps necessary to pressurize the fire-fighting network.

• Water treatment area:  made up of the oily and semi-oily water purification plant from processing

• Electrical substation area:  including the network arrival, the current generators, the transformers and the electromotive power distribution drawers to the users.
