Fire Fighting System
All Oil & Gas plants must be equipped with a fire network that guarantees adequate fire protection (Dimension depends on the size plant) A fire-fighting network consists of a series of hydrants placed along the internal roads of the oil field that surround the various plant areas, and of cooling rings (cooling water) placed on the production Tanks (First, second and third stage, etc.) and other chemical substance to cooling them in case of fire nearby (avoid escalation) The water required for the fire-fighting network is guaranteed by storage tanks or basins of adequate capacity and is kept under pressure (6 bar) by pressurization pumps. Together with them, there are other two pumps of higher power which intervene in case of emergency. One of these is driven by an electric motor, while the other is driven by a diesel engine as electricity may not be available in the event of a fire. Fig. 40 shows the diagram of a fire pumping station. The fire water is also used for the foam cannons placed near the crude oil separation plant (Tanks), and the foam pourers placed on the roofs of the crude oil storage tanks. |
